University of Bahrain and UNIDO discuss creating an entrepreneurship center
A potential cooperation was discussed between his excellency Professor Dr. Riyad Yousif Hamzah, President of the University of Bahrain, and Dr. Hashim S. Hussein, the Head of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Investment and Technology Promotion Office (ITPO) in the Kingdom of Bahrain to create a UNIDO center for innovation and entrepreneurship in the national university.
This came during the reception of the UNIDO delegation by the president of the university, which also included the Head of the Arab Union for Arab Societies of IT companies Ubaydli Alobaidly, and the Director of Health Promotion Directorate of UNIDO Dr. Amal Al Jowder.
Prof Hamza mentioned the broad prospects for joint cooperation between UOB and UNIDO, especially with regard to the development of innovative student projects and qualifying graduates to enter entrepreneurship line, highlighting that the university is keen on encouraging and qualifying students to take the entrepreneurship track, and create innovative opportunities after graduation.
For his part, Dr. Hussein confirmed that UNIDO is looking forward to unique work with the university that requires investing the organization’s skills and expertise in the field of entrepreneurship.
The two parties have agreed on forming committees for the cooperation research and developing its framework, in preparation to sign a memorandum of understanding to facilitate achieving desired objectives.
Considering that UNIDO’s ITPO Bahrain works in 52 countries around the world in developing the mechanism and programs of establishing new small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), in addition to achieving growth in SMEs in the area and stimulating and guiding entrepreneurial energies.
